Greetings everyone. Apologies on the delay of an update. We have been having issues with reliable internet lately and unable to update the blog.
It is winter now but the days have been very nice. Usually in the 70's. With winter comes burn season so we have been burning our fields along with our neighbors in preparation for spring farming. The winds have been very strong and it's been very dry causing fires to get out of control around the country. Our community has been spared from any damage from the winds or fire. We are thankful for that.
Justin's surgery is scheduled for August 7th to reverse his colostomy. He is feeling good, has his strength back and has gained 10lbs back. The surgeon anticipates a week's stay in the hospital and a week after in South Africa before we return to Eswatini. We are so very thankful for Justin's health and are looking forward to a complete recovery. I will post updates on his surgery and recovery on Facebook and email an update when we return home.
Everyone has been asking how the cows are doing. They are great. We built a corral and chute this week and gave them their annual injections. They also have a new room mate. We were able to negotiate a bull from our community to stay with them for a few weeks. We are hoping for calves! We were able to hire a man from the community to help with the cows and projects on the property. He has been a blessing from God at a time when we needed the help. Justin has been building a relationship with him and encouraging him. He lives a rough life but we have seen some changes in him and know the Lord is doing something in his life.
We continue to visit people in our community and also have them to our house for tea, great discussions and prayer. Recently we visited a 85 year old Gogo(grandmother)for the second time and brought her some much needed hygiene items. She has been paralyzed from the waist down for many years but that doesn't get her down. She is so spunky and always laughing. She told me to hurry back and see her again before she dies because she told God she's ready. She's just waiting on him:) She loves the Lord and doesn't fear death. She longs to see her savior. What a beautiful woman of God.
Today was a holiday in Eswatini and all the children are out of school. They always come to the house after school and for holidays because they know there's always something to do. Today we colored in coloring books and ate candy. Recently we've started a small library for the kids. They can get a book to take home to read and bring it back for another. They love this and are so excited to have new books to read.
Thank you for your continued prayers for Justin's health and our community. It's quite a journey we are on and God gets all the glory. We love Him and continue to see His love everyday.
Much love to you,
